Parenting Essentials Workshops - Starting in September

Greetings all,

For many, the beginning of the school year marks a renewed focus on parenting and children. With that in mind, our Parenting Essentials workshops start in September. See more information below and consider signing up!

What is Parenting Essentials? This is a workshop that provides parents with the essentials they need for the daunting task of raising children. This will help you understand your child’s development and the heart behind their behavior. It will also help you understand your authority and goals as a parent. And lastly, it will provide you with practical, biblical guidance for communication and discipline.

Who is it for? This course will help anyone who is looking for biblical guidance on parenting. It will be especially helpful for those who:

  • feel like family life is chaotic and needs structure

  • are entering into parenthood for the first time

  • have children who are trying to “rule the roost”

  • want to understand a biblical view of discipline

  • have trouble communicating with their children

  • want to learn to address the heart underneath a child’s behavior

Who will be in the workshop? Rather than a workshop that is open to the public, full of people you don’t know, this time we are meeting with smaller groups of no more than 8 people who already know and trust each other. That means it is up to YOU to invite like-minded friends, family, and church members to do this workshop with you.

What is the format? This workshop will meet weekly for six weeks beginning in September. Homework will include readings from Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp with questions to answer. Group meetings will be a mixture of instruction and round-table discussion led by SBC staff, all of which will apply biblical wisdom to the challenges of parenting.

How much does it cost? The cost is $200 per person (book not included). Spouses receive a 25% discount. Scholarships are available, but on a limited basis.

When is it? Workshops begin in September, but dates and times will be decided based on group members’ availability. On the signup form you can submit your availability.

Can I do the course by myself or with my spouse only? This workshop can easily adapt to a private, coaching format, although the cost would increase.
